Nurse Evaluations

The Texas Board of Nursing utilizes psychological evaluations and polygraph exams in some cases to assist them in making decisions on whether a person is a suitable candidate to become a nurse in Texas. Certain applicants for a nursing license (RN or LVN) in Texas who have a criminal history are requested to complete these evaluations prior to being allowed to sit for the licensing exam.

The Texas Board of Nursing also frequently utilizes both psychological evaluations and polygraph exams to assist them in the investigation of complaints against a person with an existing nursing license.

Dr. Lehman has provided these services for a number of years. He is pre-approved by the Board of Nursing to provide these assessments. Similarly Dalhousie Polygraph Services is also approved by the Board to provide polygraph examinations. We have been told by numerous people who inquire about these services that our fees for these assessments are among the most reasonable in the state. Both the psychological and the polygraph can be accomplished in the same day, if requested.

These nurse evaluations include an initial interview in which the case history and other pertinent personal history are reviewed by Dr. Lehman. This interview is followed by a series of psychological instruments designed to address the particular issues of the case. The polygraph examination (if requested) can also be done during the day. Once all of the assessment instruments are completed and the polygraph has been done a second interview is held at which time the results are shared with the person being evaluated. Following the second interview, the report is written and sent both to the Board and to the person being evaluated.

The cost for these evaluations is the responsibility of the person being sent by the Board of Nursing and is due and payable at the first interview. Contact our office for full information on the costs associated with these assessments. Prior to holding these evaluations, records from the Board of Nursing need to be released to Dr. Lehman. Our office will provide you with all of the details.
