Pre-employment Psychological Screening
All pre-employment evaluations will be provided by a licensed psychologist. When applicable, the contractor prefers to have access to the background investigator's summary for review prior to seeing the individual.
The evaluation will include the following:
A. A battery of psychological instruments and forms:
- An assessment of psychological problems. This instrument provides information on numerous clinical scales that allows the psychologist to review issues such as anger control, psychological disorders, tendencies toward chemical dependency, etc.
- An assessment of aspects of normal personality and several pathological aspects of personality. This instrument provides information on the dynamics of a person's personality on 16 factors including assertiveness, attention to rules, self-discipline, etc. It also provides helpful information on how a person responds to threat and how much a person is a thrill seeker among other factors.
- An assessment of personality charactersistics with information on how a person will function within an organization.
- An instrument that provides information on how a person relates to others on issues such as control and the need for praise.
- An assessment of cognitive functioning under a timed format. It is designed to provide a general assessment of cognitive functioning.
- A self report of areas of life that the client sees as stressful.
- Sentence Completion Technique.
- Extensive background questionnaire (available on the applicants page in Word and PDF formats).
- Consent form that acknowledges the scope of the psychological evaluation, confidentiality policies, and the fact the assessment results will be shared with the public safety agency.
- NOTE: Additional instruments may be added at no additional cost if screening warrants, i.e. if screening indicates a possible substance abuse problem, additional testing would be done to determine if a diagnosis is appropriate.
