Fitness for Duty Evaluations

Fitness for duty evaluations are significant events for the person and the department. At John Lehman, Ph. D. & Associates these are done with the intent of engaging the person in the process rather than being adversarial, whenever possible. These evaluations are performed differently from Pre-employment Evaluations. In these evaluations an extensive interview, that is usually one hour or more, is first performed. Following this preliminary interview a battery of assessment instruments is put together to address the issues that generated the referral. This battery always includes three instruments developed to assess psychological problems such as anger control, psychological disorders, chemical dependency, normal and pathological personality traits, among others. The fee is a fixed rate. Lehman & Associates will do whatever testing is necessary to reach a conclusion on the referral issue. Other instruments are added to these based on the referreal question. Following the scoring of the instruments, the psychologist meets with the employee again and provides feedback. The goal is to elicit support of the employee for treatment, if applicable. This evaluation generally takes almost a full day.

Because this is a more extensive evaluation with a more extensive written report (usually 3-5 pages which include treatment recommendations, when appropriate) the report cannot be provided the same day. A verbal report will be provided within 24 hours. A written report will be provided within three working days.
